BRIEF: Verizon store giving away backpacks

Children in need of school supplies are invited to pick up a backpack filled with the basics at The Cellular Connection on Aug. 3. The Verizon retailer at 107 First Ave. will hand out backpacks filled with notebooks, pens, pencils and more from noon to 2 p.m. The store has 150 backpacks to give away.
